So, I started by uploading my adventures in haircoloring that you all have probably missed because I've been lax on uploading things.

Now, for the update you've all been waiting for I'm sure. We no longer have our pup Dakota. He had to be put down due to the aggression he started showing towards me. We worked with him for weeks before we decided it was best just to put him down. Before you comment, let me say that it was not a dominance thing. A dominance thing we could have worked with. He would growl at me whenever I went to pet him, and you could just see the hate in his eyes. It wasn't even a regular thing, it came and went. One minute he'd be fine and happy, and the next he was a different dog. He was acting more like he was afraid of me and was warning me to stay away.

I don't even want to hear any of that, 'well there must be a reason for it, what did you do' crap. I would never, never hurt any animal in such a way that would cause them to fear me. I despise anyone who does.

Also, I know there are people out there who are going to say something about finding him a new home and yes, that was an option, but because he had turned so suddenly on me, the one who had spent the most time with him, we decided putting him down was the best choice. Even if he had went to a home where the people knew his previous situation, I would have felt guilty had he decided to bite someone. I didn't want him to become another statistic that german shepherds are dangerous dogs.

That's really all that's been happening. Or at least the biggest thing that has happened since I last updated. Nothing else really seems worth mentioning.

I would love to get another dog this spring, but at the moment my mom really doesn't want another one. My dad has been talking with her, and she is less adamant about it than she started, so there's a chance we'll get a new pup this spring. But, we'll see. If we do, I would like to get out to the humane society and adopt one, but my dad wants another GSD. I guess we'll see what happens when spring rolls around. I'll do my best to keep you guys updated.

And don't feel like you have to tell me how sorry you are about Dakota. I wrote this just so you guys would know what was going on. When the decision was officially made to put him down, I knew it was for the best, and I wasn't as sad as I would have been had he been hit by a car or something. Does that make sense? Basically that connection we used to have was gone because plain and simple, he was not the same dog.
